Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

Current Situation

An active leak has occurred from a tanker truck filled with anhydrous ammonia at the Airgas facility at 6270 Wilderness Avenue.  The tanker, with a capacity of 74,000 gallons, was originally filled with 12,000 gallons. A failed release valve is causing a significant leak. The ammonia cloud is impacting the Manheim auto storage area. All personnel at Manheim are accounted for and in a safe location, with access to the area being controlled. Hazmat personnel are collaborating with Airgas Technical staff to address the situation. The tank has depressurized naturally, and hazmat entry teams are now working to control the valve. Aerial drones have been deployed to assist in identifying the leak.  Hazmat personnel have made all necessary notifications.
