Current Situation

On April 30th, The Riverside Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire reported near the 2300 block of Wilshire St.  The first arriving unit reported vegetation burning behind the property, closer to the freeway.  While crews made access, additional resources were redirected to the Main St. off ramp on the east 60 freeway.  A pile of rubbish was found burning and had extended into the vegetation growing on the sound wall.  Fire crews quickly extended hose lines and contained the fire to the immediate area around the rubbish pile.  The fire was determined human caused and likely related the encampments in the area.  Crews remained on scene and the incident was transferred to CHP once the fire was extinguished.
