Senior Supplemental Income Rental Assistance Program

The Senior Supplemental Rental Assistance Program provides Riverside residents ages 70 and up with as much as $600 of supplemental rental assistance payments while they wait for a Section 8 voucher to be issued or for an affordable senior housing unit to become available. Payments can last as long as a year, with the program funded with $900,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. View press release.

 

To be eligible, residents must:

  • Live within the City of Riverside city limits
  • Have a household income that does not exceed 50% of area median income (AMI)
  • Be at least 70 years old
  • Be on the waitlist for Riverside County Section 8

Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Funding is available to assist low-income renters in the City of Riverside who have been impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic with past due rent and utilities and 3 months of forward rent.

To be eligible, households must:

  • • Be leasing property within the City of Riverside city limits
  • • Household’s income cannot exceed 80% of the Riverside County’s income limit

You must have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to qualify.

Why is the documentation necessary:  Your application will be processed more quickly if you can provide the following documents:

  • • Executed lease between the applicant and property owner or landlord including all pages
  • • Proof of income
    • Proof of income for all household members covering two months (e.g., pay check stubs, unemployment benefits award letter, social security award letter, etc.)
    • Bank statements (3 month’s worth) for all household members over the age of 18 (include all pages)
    • COVID-19 Impact Affidavit form (Fully completed and signed by the applicant) and supporting documentation (e.g. lay off letter, unemployment claim, etc.)
  • • Government issued photo ID for all households members
  • • You must certify that your household does not receive any other subsidy that is not wholly cover by a subsidized housing program.
