Celebrating Three Decades of Education, Conservation & Community
Published: 5/19/2025
Since the year 1995, the Education Team at Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) has been dedicated to empowering Riverside’s youth through innovative and engaging science-based programs. For over 30 years, the team has promoted the importance of energy and water conservation, while building connections between students, classrooms, and the critical role public utilities play in everyday life.
As we celebrate three decades of outreach, we’re proud to have reached and inspired more than 300,000 students through our programs—equipping the next generation with knowledge, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of sustainability.
One of our cornerstone programs, STEM PULL (Public Utilities Leading Learning), invites high school sophomores through seniors to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on experiences with RPU professionals. From system planning to fieldwork, students gain a behind-the-scenes look at how public utilities power our city—while discovering how they can help shape its future.
Through the Years
We extend our deepest thanks to the teachers, school staff, and students who have welcomed us into their classrooms and communities.
We are also grateful to the RPU Education team—past and present—whose passion and creativity have shaped this program for three decades.
Here at RPU we are excited about our future. We're looking forward to teaching the next generations of Riverside students about conservation, sustainability, and the science behind public utilities.
