IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Change in Trespass Authorization Law

Under California Senate Bill 602, all trespass authorization forms must now be signed and notarized to be valid.  Any previous forms without notarization are no longer valid and must be updated.  To continue authorizing law enforcement to act on your behalf, you’ll need to complete a new, notarized form.

So, what is a trespass authorization?  It’s a signed document that allows law enforcement to act on behalf of a property owner or manager when they’re not present.  It lets officers warn, cite, or arrest trespassers on commercial, vacant, or posted properties and helps deter issues like loitering, dumping, vandalism, and encampments. Trespass authorizations are commonly used by businesses, property managers, and vacant property owners.

The Riverside Police Department is hosting FREE open house events where you can complete, notarize, and submit your trespass authorization form. No appointment needed but a government-issued identification from any state is required for notary.  See dates and times below:
