OFFICERS ADDRESS ONGOING ISSUES AT RYAN BONAMINIO PARK

In August of this year, the Riverside Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP Team) became aware of multiple incidents at Ryan Bonaminio Park. These incidents included the theft of City of Riverside light poles and copper wire, homelessness and livability issues, and drug-related complaints.

Over the past several months, members of the POP Team, with assistance from the Public Safety and Engagement Team (PSET) and Parks and Neighborhood Specialists (PANS), conducted several operations at the park to address these concerns. During the operations, officers located and contacted individuals at 10 encampments within the park and surrounding river bottom areas. Officers also located and recovered stolen property belonging to the City of Riverside within the encampments.

As a result of these operations, RPD officers arrested 12 individuals for various offenses, including grand theft, narcotics-related offenses, outstanding warrants, trespassing, and violations of the Riverside Municipal Code.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Officer B. McMillan at [email protected] with more information.

The Riverside Police Department remains committed to addressing ongoing issues at Ryan Bonaminio Park through continued enforcement and collaboration with City partners.
