Riverside General Plan Update & Climate Action and Adaptation Plan

Join Us for a Community Workshop!

GPU & CAAP is a multi-year Citywide initiative that will benefit Riverside for generations to come

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The City of Riverside is continuing its work on the General Plan Update (GPU) and Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) and invites the public to a community workshop on April 3.

The General Plan serves as a blueprint for land use decisions, ensuring that Riverside continues to evolve in alignment with the community’s vision and priorities. The CAAP is a strategic framework to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen climate resilience. Together, with critical input from the entire Riverside community, the GPU and CAAP will define the future of our city for the coming decades.

The GPU and CAAP process will last approximately 2½ years and conclude in early 2027.

Community Workshop

Join us for our first community workshop to discuss land use concepts and:

  • Learn how land use concepts shape the way your neighborhood grows.
  • Explore detailed neighborhood maps from across the city to see existing land uses and key community assets.
  • Share your vision by identifying areas where you’d like to see changes -- whether it’s adding parks, housing, shops, or other improvements.
  • Provide feedback that will help guide future development.
