The City Council appointed Lee McDougal as Interim City Manager on December 22, 2014. Lee took over from Scott Barber who retired on December 30 and will serve as Interim City Manager while the City Council recruits a new City Manager.
Lee previously served as City Manager of Montclair for 18 years before retiring in 2010 and spent 34 years in Montclair, starting as Housing Coordinator in 1976, then advancing to Director of Housing and Redevelopment, then Director of Administrative Services/Redevelopment Department before being named City Manager in 1992. He also served as Public Safety Director and Redevelopment Agency Executive Director.
Lee graduated from UC Riverside in 1974 with a B.A. in Urban Studies and a B.A. in Black Studies. In 1988, he was inducted into the UC Riverside Athletics Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments as a member of the UCR basketball team.
The City Council has hired Ralph Anderson & Associates to conduct the City Manager recruitment. The recruitment closes on January 12, 2015 and the City Council hopes to have a new City Manager selected by March, 2015.
City Works with California State Controller to Complete Property Transfers, Only $64,000 Remains at Question
On May 16, 2013 the City of Riverside received its long-awaited Asset Transfer Review from the State Controller's Office (SCO) allowing the City to complete the transfer of approximately 70 former Redevelopment Agency assets. The City attempted to transfer these properties to the Successor Agency, but was unable to obtain title insurance to complete the transactions.
