Due to the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in the County and City of Riverside, the Passport Acceptance Facility is closed until further notice.  For Life-or-Death emergency within the next 72 hours only, please call Department of State at         1-877-487-2778 or visit their website at

What Do I Need to Do?

Each applicant is required to:

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Make an appointment then appear personally no more than 15 minutes before scheduled appointment time.
  3. Present current valid identification (driver's license or State ID card)
  4. Submit proof of United States Citizenship (original birth certificate, certified copy of birth certificate or original naturalization certificate).
  5. Bring in one passport photo (or pay the $8 fee for the City Clerk's Office to take the photo).
  6. Pay the required fees.

There are significant delays in the turnaround time to receive the passport from the Department of State Passport Agency.


Can I Expedite the Process? Currently not available.

For an additional fee of $60.00 per passport application, Passport Services will expedite your application. This will reduce processing time to approximately 3 weeks.

*Passport Services will Express Mail your expedited passport book back to you (1-2 day delivery time) for an additional $17.13 and can be included in the Passport Services payment. Passport Services cannot Express Mail a passport card back to you.

The City Clerk's Office offers Express Mail to deliver your application overnight to Passport Services (1-2 day delivery time). This fee is $26.35 for Express Mail service and can be included in the City payment.


Appointments are available at other passport acceptance facilities.
