Volunteer Opportunities

The Bourns Family Youth Innovation Center is a new type of community center with unique offerings that will require knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Individuals will be considered for volunteering if they possess proficient knowledge in any of the following areas: computer science, STEM subject matter and programs, maker space machinery, and film and or sound equipment. Volunteer opportunities will be posted as needed.

Computer Science


 
  • Coding
  • Robotics
  • Computer maintenance and troubleshooting
  • All software (Microsoft Suite, editing software, AR, etc.)

STEM Programs


 
  • A major in any of the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, or math)
  • Experience working educational camps
  • Teaching experience

Makerspace Machinery


 
  • Laser cutters
  • 3D printing
  • Sewing machines
  • Embroidery machines
  • Cricut machines

Film & Sound Equipment


 
  • SLR Cameras
  • Film/photography cameras
  • Production lighting
  • Sound equipment (microphones, sound boards, etc.)
  • Editing equipment and software

 

 


Refund Policy:

Refunds will not be granted unless class is cancelled. Credits will be issued for the amount of the course if the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is notified before the second class meeting. Exceptions – Special Events, Aquatics, Lifeguard Training, Day Camps, and After School programs, due to high demand and limited spacing, credits, transfers or refunds will not be issued.
Refunds will not be granted for Youth Sports programs, however credits will be issued if requested in writing two weeks prior to the first scheduled game.
Online registration transaction fees are non-refundable.
