Mayor’s Senior Forum
Launched in June 2025, the Mayor’s Senior Forum was a community engagement series created to ensure Riverside’s older adults had direct access to City leadership, services, and resources.
Held at community centers throughout Riverside, the forums brought together City departments and community partners to provide information about programs, health and wellness, public safety, transportation, and other topics important to older adults. The forums also gave participants an opportunity to share feedback and help inform City priorities.

Riverside Mayor’s Challenge to End Youth Homelessness
In March 2025, Riverside reached functional zero for youth homelessness, meaning the City has sufficient housing and support systems to make youth homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
This achievement followed Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson’s 2023 Challenge to End Youth Homelessness and built upon Riverside’s successful effort to end veteran homelessness in 2017. By working with 18 partners and combining state funding, youth-centered housing, and supportive services, Riverside created a coordinated system capable of quickly connecting young people with stability and assistance.

Crafty Conversations
Launched in July 2024, Crafty Conversations brought the Mayor to local breweries and restaurants throughout Riverside to celebrate the stories of innovative businesses.
The Mayor met with business owners to learn how they developed their craft, understand the barriers they faced, and identify ways the City could further support Riverside’s local business community.

Mayor’s Public Safety Neighborhood Tour
Launched in February 2024, the Mayor’s Public Safety Neighborhood Tour made a stop in each ward to hear residents’ key concerns, highlight innovative ideas, and share proactive measures being taken to address public safety.
The Mayor was joined by key City staff to discuss available City resources, Riverside Police Department public safety efforts, and the Mayor’s advocacy work at the local and regional levels.

Project Connect
Launched in July 2023, Project Connect is a partnership among the nonprofit Victory Outreach, the Riverside Police Department, and the Riverside Sheriff’s Department that provides jail in-reach programming.
Individuals preparing to be released from the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside can connect with employment opportunities, housing assistance, transportation to their city of origin, and other supportive programs intended to help prevent recidivism, crime, and homelessness following release.

Art with the Mayor
Launched in February 2023, Art with the Mayor was a series of events that highlighted a variety of artistic disciplines, including theater, music, film, and painting.

Coffee with the Mayor
Launched in January 2023, Coffee with the Mayor was held at local coffee shops to connect Riverside’s business community with available resources and City support. The gatherings were catered by generous Riverside-based coffee shops.

Project DASH: DoorDash Partnership
In November 2022, DoorDash established a first-of-its-kind partnership with the City of Riverside through Project DASH to address food insecurity. Using DoorDash’s delivery logistics, Project DASH delivered food directly to Riverside residents experiencing food insecurity.

Californians For All Youth Jobs Corps
Launched in August 2022, the Californians For All Youth Jobs Corps is a grant-funded program that employs young adults ages 18 to 30 across City departments and nonprofit organizations.
To date, more than 100 interns have been placed across 17 City departments. Riverside is one of only a dozen California cities with a fully operational Youth Jobs Corps program, helping create and prepare the workforce of the future.

Beautify Riverside
Launched in July 2022, Beautify Riverside is a privately funded, volunteer-driven citywide initiative focused on public art installations, community cleanups, and landscape improvements. The Riverside Arts Council serves as the financial partner for Beautify Riverside.

Riverside Military Wall of Honor
On November 11, 2021, Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson launched a fundraising campaign to support enhancements to the Riverside Military Wall of Honor. Twenty-five years after the memorial was first unveiled, Riverside Veterans Plaza and the Military Wall of Honor were rededicated.
Originally unveiled on May 31, 1997, the Riverside Military Wall of Honor was established as a permanent register honoring Riversiders who lost their lives while serving on active military duty.

Mayor’s Big Tent Tour
Launched in July 2021, the Mayor’s Big Tent Tour made 13 stops throughout Riverside and brought together several hundred residents. The meetings provided opportunities for the Mayor to listen directly to the concerns and ideas of Riversiders and help ensure their voices were included in City decision-making.

Riverside Youth Council
Launched in 2004, the Riverside Youth Council provides high school students with opportunities to participate in City governance and contribute to decision-making through youth-led initiatives.
The Youth Council organizes immersive programs and events, including the RYC Youth Summit, Campus Riverside, the Mock City Council Meeting, civics webinars, and the recognition of Riverside’s 25 Most Remarkable Teens.

Campus Riverside
Campus Riverside served as a one-stop resource for students in Riverside. The program provided resources to support students throughout their college experience, including exclusive student discounts, information about local attractions and events, and job and internship opportunities offered by Riverside businesses.
