Youth Climate Action Fund

Bloomberg Philanthropies has selected the City of Riverside as one of 300 cities worldwide to participate in the 2026–2027 Youth Climate Action Fund cohort. Through this program, Riverside will support youth ages 15–24 as they design and deliver projects aligned with the City’s Climate Action Plan priorities.

The Awardee Orientation Meeting date has been updated to October 15th. Youth Climate Action Fund projects should support local climate action priorities that help Riverside become a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient community.

Microgrant eligibility

Who Can Receive a Microgrant?

Projects are led by young people, but funds must be disbursed to organizations. Eligible organizations help youth-led project teams receive and manage funds responsibly while supporting local climate action in Riverside.

✓ Eligible Recipients

  • Youth-led organizations, such as youth clubs or groups
  • Youth-serving organizations, including adult-led organizations supporting young people
  • Sponsor organizations, such as city agencies, schools or other educational institutions, museums, or community organizations

✓ Organization Requirements

  • Be legally registered entities
  • Be recognized as a non-profit or charitable organization under local laws, unless a public entity
  • Have a bank account in the organization’s name

✓ Compliance Notes

  • The city unit managing the program cannot act as a sponsor for a project
  • Sponsors cannot be partisan organizations or political parties
  • Microgrant recipients cannot be the subject of any applicable sanctions regime

Not Eligible

Private companies, individuals or political parties or party-affiliated organizations are not eligible.
