File an Online Police Report

Welcome to the Riverside Police Online Reporting System. If this is an Emergency call 9-1-1. Using this system allows you to submit a report immediately. There is no cost for this service. Please answer the questions below to find out if online filing is right for you.

Did this incident occur outside the Riverside City limits?

What if this happened in another city can I file a report using this system?
No, If a crime took place outside of the City of Riverside please call the police department for that city. If you need assistance finding a particular police department’s phone number please call our Records Division at 951-826-5700.

What if the incident happened in a county area of Riverside?
If this took place in a county area of Riverside you need to call the Riverside Sheriff's Department at 951-776-1099.



Are there any known suspects?

What is a known suspect?
A known suspect is when you or someone else knows (physically witnessed) the person or where to find the person who committed the crime or the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in.

What if I think someone committed the crime?
This is not defined as a known suspect, please list this person's name in your narrative description.

What if this happened on a state Freeway?
If this took place on a State Freeway please call the Highway Patrol Office nearest you.

What if it happened on an on ramp or an off ramp connected to a State Freeway?
This is still considered part of a State Freeway, please call the Highway Patrol Office nearest you.



Was the amount of the loss over $10,000 dollars?

What if the loss caused by this incident was more than $10,000?

Are you a victim of fraudulent activity?

Do you accept identity theft or credit fraud online?
At this time we do not accept identity theft or credit fraud reports online. Please come to one of our stations or call our non-emergency line at (951) 354-2007.



If this was a theft, did it occur in your residence?

Do you accept residential burglaries (theft) online?
At this time we do not accept residential burglaries online. Residential burglaries (theft) requires an officer. Please come to one of our stations or call our non-emergency line at (951) 354-2007.



If you answered NO to all of the above questions, you are ready to start your report. If you answered YES to any of the questions please look at our Frequently Asked Questions section.

Upon completion of this process you will...

  • See the words: "Your report has been submitted" showing that your report is complete.
  • Receive a confirmation email containing a temporary report number.

  • All cases filed online will be reviewed.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
  • Filing a false police report is a crime.
